Slate vs concrete tile

I'm looking at reroofing my original slate roof, and one roofer suggested that concrete 'fake' slate tiles are a lot cheaper, better and easier to work with.

Do these look ok compared to actual slate? I thought they were only used on council houses to keep costs down!

I'm looking at reroofing my original slate roof, and one roofer suggested that concrete 'fake' slate tiles are a lot cheaper, better and easier to work with.

I am not a roofer, but I seem to remember concrete tiles, are quite a bit heavier than the thinner slate, so if changing to concrete, you may need to assess the strength of your roof.

Very little difference except manufactured tiles are more uniform.
