I live in a adjoined back to back terrace, in my master bedroom there was a long corridor alongside it where a staircase used to be.
I removed most of the wall to make a large recess to fit wardrobes into, sorted a floor and lined it etc.
I "was" going to build wardrobes, dowel joints, use veneered wood etc.
By the time I had costed the whole thing, realised how long it would take me, how inaccurate my joints would be et all we realised that by going to Ikea and getting some PAX carcasses I could achieve the same thing - some wardrobes in the recess - much better built and with pull out wire trays for socks/underwear etc.
Each unit was screwed to the next to make them all secure, I even put power cables in above for lighting that I have never fitted.
For the doors I got some Stanley sliding doors off of Freecycle, hung them on the rails and the finish is excellent.
We hate it now - the mirrored glass doors are too dark lol
So the next plan (not happening anytime soon plan) is to take them off and simply fit the proper PAX sliding doors, shouldnt be too hard, in fact the hard thing will be getting the old doors out of the house without smashing them.
