Hi everyone hope you are all well, I am in a new home and I am fitting 12mm laminate , didn't want to use lvt as slight discrepancies in floor boards, sorted most of them out and last time I used it it started coming apart, so got laminate. It's a 1960s house om boards with cavity under the house for air flow.

Living room is done in slightly different colour and I am onto kitchen/diner and up the hallway so it's a T - shape I am doing.

One question I have is I am running the boards from front door towards the bifold doors, what is the best thing to use along bifold door where all the boards meet the door frame, some sort of L angle so smarten it up ?

Secondly I will attatch pictures but need some advice, there is concrete floor in kitchen side so I am aware I need to use a a dpc under the fibreboard , where comcrete meets wood floor it did have a lip when I have managed to blend in however still discrepancies in the levels in places , not sure if will require a self leveling compound then have a threshold along length of floor as don't want to self level whole dining room and hall etc to level of kitchen. I can slide 5mm spacers under level where it meets, however not sure as boards running the way of picture not sure if will be OK.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks dean

I used a thin aluminium angle along door frame , sprayed to colour match frame . Pop riveted to frame .
Would not recommend laying laminate in a kitchen .

That sounds great for up again the bifolds, and if laminate ever needs lifting in kitchen side I can get to the edge where it meets wood boards and use a threshold and change I suppose, it's hall and kitchen diner that's why wife wants it to carry all way through that's all.

Thanks dean

You need threshold at doorways , needs expansion room. There is also a limit to laminate dimension before an expansion joint is needed.

For the bifolds, have a look at Stairrods UK Lip Profiles, they are perfect for a premium finish in such areas or they also do flat profiles if you prefer rather than a L shape profile if it suits.
