I’m thinking about removing a timber post in a new loft conversion. (See pic). this is to allow for built in storage. I’m thinking goalpost frame with box steel will do this okay?
Dimensions are W 755mm H 1125 So not very big at all. Posts are C16 Timber @ 94mm. Steel I beam sits under all posts.
I’ve made one enquiry so far but they said they need structural calcs. Any idea what I can do to avoid this additional cost.
Obviously I don’t want the roof to fall down but considering there are 9 posts, 8 purlins and a steel which has replaced two purlins I think it’ll stay up! I’m happy to have it slightly over engineered
Any help would be great
