OK, so I know similar questions have been asked before but there are some specifics to my query so here goes:

I've got an old terraced house with a ground floor single storey extension for a bathroom. I did the bathroom up about 1 year ago, but unfortunately becuase I did it in august and in something of a rush I put no insulation in the loft space and it gets fecking cold in the winter!

I'm thinking about getting mineral wool blown up there but unfortunately I've got spotlights. By a lucky accident however I installed the brackets for the spotlights upside-down so they come off the beams pointing up, with the transformer on top, and a wire dangles vertically down to the fitting below i.e the transformer is well clear of the top of the beam level. Would it be safe to blow the attic full of mineral wool and then just stick my hand through and make sure there's a bit of a space around each spotlight? The bulbs get stinking hot anyway so does it make much difference as long as the transformer is clear?

saul - I presume the roof over the bathroom slopes & is clad in tiles or slate, thus creating your loft ... is this correct? Or are you describing the void above the ceiling to the underside of a flat roof as the loft?

One common solution to this type of access if you have TILES is to lift a few of them, from the outside, to gain some access. Tiles can be removed (they lift & slip out) & replaced easily. You can then lay your insulation and install vented covers over the lamps.

Yeah it is tiled and I have thought about that but it's not so straightforward. There would be the liner to remove too which I don't really want to go cutting holes in, and it quite old slate and I want to touch it as little as possible!
