I think I have found the problem with my dishwasher - when the motor engages when I turn it on, the impellor fan immediately attached to it does not spin.
I have taken the impellor off the front and the thread on the shaft of the motor looks ok, so I presume the thread in the impellor has sheared off. Does the impellor normally screw on to the motor, or do they come together as a unit that should not come apart unless broken? I.e. if I buy a spare impellor unit, will I be able to just thread it on, or do I need to buy a motor/impellor unit together?
One other question - all the hose connections have sprung clips except the one from the impellor to the heating element which has different broad metal collars that look like they are designed to go on and not come off - can they be re-used, or would I break them pulling them off and need to replace them? I guess any collar & screw from the plumber supply shop would do the job...
Thanks for any help, I think I am nearly there in getting it fixed!
