smells like burnt popcorn

Is there anyone who could help? This evening I have noticed a strange smell coming from some newly installed pipes for a new central heating system. It smells like burnt popcorn. Has anyone had this small before?

We definitely have not had popcorn this evening!

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

I have spoke to him and he cannot help. It definately smells like popcorn.
