Hello.
I'm re-tiling my roof and have used aluminium soakers with a 75mm upstand at a wall. Plain concrete tiles (165x268). See picture.
I think it's okay, but I've read that it should have a minimum 65mm upstand for the flashing to cover. The most I have is about 62mm, but it drops to 45mm or so where it steps down at the toe of the tile.
I don't see any other way of doing it with these soakers, but if that's normal, I'll carry on as it is with a 150mm straight cut flashing down to the tile level.
I also have dormer cheeks to do in a similar fashion. Leaded dormer will provide the flashing. However, I have read that the soaker upstand should be increased to 100mm. I can't find any aluminium soakers with a 100mm upstand, which suggests that the industry does not require it. Obviously I can fashion out of lead, but that's a lot more work (I appreciate they may be better than aluminium).
Is it normal to tile up to a leaded dormer cheek with just a 75mm upstand, given my picture above shows that the cover is only 45mm in places? If lead soakers are the only option, that's fine, but it seems odd that for all the different sizes of tile/slate etc, aluminium is only available up to 75mm.
Appreciate anyone's input and advice, thanks.
