Socket too low but cable to short to move.

... and, whilst you are 'enquiring', maybe another pertinent line of enquiry relates to (as implied in my last post) why BS1363 requires a double socket to pass a test with 14A flowing through one of its ("13A") outlets!

The clear assumption of the whole system is that load will be spread around. That it is unlikely that two max-size loads will be used in the same place at same time and thus it is generally reasonable to have a ring circuit with spurs where the cable and accessories are only rated at two-thirds the rating of the protective device.
