Soffit installation

I want to install new soffit bords to the roof overhang and down the alleyway by the side of the garage.
Where should the first board be placed?
I'm using 5m x 300mm boards and going to run them lengthways.

If I'm understanding I would go across in the shorter run.

Come off the wall trim then...

The problem is, the width is 1.4 meters. With 5 meter boards, there would be an awful lot of waste.

Around 0.8m at around £2 in value per sheet.?

They are Rosewood at £25 per sheet. So works out at £4 per sheet.
Even then, I do take your point. Probably about 5 sheets to cover that area, so only £20 loss.
