software to help with renovation

we've got to replace doors, windows and guttering. I'd like to see how the new fittings would look before starting work so I'm looking for a software that would allow me to drop a picture of our house then add in new elements into a photograph to create a realistic final image. Apart from retouching software like photoshop and equivalents, does anyone know of an application??

Google sketchup (free version) might do. A bit of a learning curve involved though. Here's a page with a video to watch:
