Soil pipe material - Asbestos?

I have been informed by at least one plumber that the external soil pipe stack on our 1930 style terrace is made from asbestos, is this right? I initially thought it was made of cast iron as it looked like it might be, however it does not attract a magnet so it must be non-ferrous.

Is 100% asbestos or a mix with something else?

We are looking to replace it as it has cracked, but do we need to employ a asbestos specialist to dispose of the old one?

In the short term can I fill the crack with anything, and what would be recommended?

Thanks,

Nick

You can get it tested if you wish, but it will be 99% cement.

If you remove it without breaking it them double wrap it and your Council will take it away for you.

Do ware protective clothing and a mask though.

And keep it wet.
