Soil pipe to Stack

Hello

My first post (I'm sure of many)...

Our toilet was blocked a while back and I replace the plastic/rubber connector - to remove the blockage I removed the horizontal pipe (behind a plasterboard wall) - this pipe emptied into the stack (at a right angle)

My question is.... is there some kind of connection sealant or I should use for the joint between the soil pipe and stack? I know the connector should remain with flex however we are seeing a slight leak on the right angle ???

I take it that the soil pipe connects to the stack via a 92.5Deg branch connector? It should have a seal in there and no sealant should be needed.
If so then it could be the soil pipe isn't pushed in far enough. It could also be a dirty/worn/damaged seal or a dirty/scored soil pipe that's been fitted, either wouldn't give a good seal.
A little silicon grease on the seal prior to fitting wouldn't go amiss either.
