I am looking into getting 8 440w solar panels and using 2 X 1600w Hypontech micro inverters. If I install this is there any way in the future to direct the extra power to a battery?

All down to the inverter, my 5 kW inverter can have 1 to 4 batteries at 3.2 kWh each, and can be configured to run with mains or generator supply. I have it configured for mains. I looked for the manual for the inverter you say, and can't find them.
As to self installation, if you want to export energy, getting the G98 or G99 certificate will be a problem. All depends on if you want grid tie?
