Hello. I have an old coach house with solid brick walls. We suffer with more insulation and condensation. I have seen two versions of solid internal wall insulation. Synthetic like Kingspan Cooltherm or natural wood fibre like Unger diffutherm for example.

Does anyone have any advice on the pros and cons of each? As far as i can tell you get better insulation for less thickness with synthetic and but more breathability with woodfibre.

Thanks

Tim

kingspan is a much better insulator.

Generally, it is better to keep the warm, moist air from inside the home (breathing, cooking, bathing) from being able to pass through and reach the wall, where it will condense and cause damp.

Water vapour can also form water inside absorbent insulation by interstital condensation, which is very undesirable, so I would say that a wood pulp board that can absorb water is not a good thing.
