See photo attached of my flooring. Solid wood flooring from Homebase ("Schreiber Caramel") installed about 5 years ago.

In places the surface is scuffed and is looking dull and tatty. This is mostly because there's a fine grain in some of the pieces of flooring, which has been a nightmare for dust - especially dust from bits of plastering work I've done (dust sheets notwithstanding). The bits of flooring where there isn't this grain look a lot better - almost like new.

I've thoroughly cleaned the floor and I've done a test patch with a clear floor wax from Toolstation - https://www.toolstation.com/clear-floor-wax/p13048 - to see if I can restore it to its former glory. I will say that it looks a lot better than it did, but still...I'm unsure:

1. It's noticeably less shiny than the original finish, which is a shame

2. In places the colour of the wood has faded away and a clear wax obviously won't fix that. Is there a darker wax I should buy, or should I use some kind of wood dye/stain instead before waxing?

3. How durable will the finish be?

4. Is there anything I can do in future to stop dust being so magnetically attracted to the flooring?

Hoping someone who knows about floor restoration will read this and be able to advise if the product is suitable & if not, perhaps suggest an alternative. Very grateful for any assistance.

Regards...
