Could you please give me a bit of a run down on the different types of plaster available and when they are used and things like when 5:1 PVA is used etc..
When would you use:
Browning
One Coat
Multi-Finish
PVA
etc etc..

Just trying to learn as much as I can!

Thanks guys.. :)

Browning is an undercoat plaster
One coat is a bulky finishing plaster which can be applied upto 50mm thick
Multi finish is a finishing plaster used to finish over undercoat plasters, on plasterboard or ever a rendered wall
PVA is used for sealing and to control suction of substrates and for peeling out of your fore arm hair! Dilution ratios are normally on the pot

The plastering wiki FAQs has a link to the British Gypsum datasheet

are you undertakeing a huge project with little to no experience or are you trying to learn plastering?

Well, Im a sparky and currently undertaking a new utility room for my in-laws.. It was a bathroom and now i'm converting it to a utility. I have knocked off the old tiles and after chasing in the new cables was wondering whats best to use to fill the chases before tiling. I have heard you shouldnt use one coat for this application? However have seen nearly every builder I work with using one coat for this!? Whats the best way to repair the walls? Some areas I may need to re-render onto block work which wont be tiled, whats the best way to build up the level and then finish off? Thanks all..
