Hi,
not my area but we have moved into a new building and the extraction is very noisy.
This is in two wood workshops with articulated arms, external extraction units going into bags.
The ductwork is round steel (?) with gates. The arms have devices to sense correct flow
I don’t work in there, but over lunch the guy in charge was complaining about the noise made by the system even when no tools are run, let alone when in actual use. Apparently it hits 85 db when they run it. Obviously they wear defenders but need to talk to each other.
Would external wrap of the ductwork help? Is there a standard max noise for ducts?
The workshop is hard surfaces throughout, presumably for dust purposes. I doubt that acoustic treatment of walls would make a difference.
we are chatting to a H&S person
TIA
