I want to replace our current 3kw immersion with a dual/twin circuit version, (ideally a long 1kw plus a short 2kw), but am having difficulties sourcing such a device. Does such a thing exist (if so from where) and if not does anyone know a maker that might produce a bespoke item?

Thanks for looking.

Thanks Charnwood, It would appear so!.

Demand may be about to return, however as people set up their household PV sytems.

My (not original) idea is to use unused power, typically generated when I'm not using it, to heat my hot water tank, but only if there is sufficient power being generated by the PV array!

This is a tricky task for which someone has invented EMMA, a sophisticated device to control and balance power usage and divert to various storage media. EMMA is overkill for me and very expensive I believe, so I propose detecting when "sufficint power" is being generated/ the array is iluminated brightly enough, and just switch on my immersion heater (until thermostat cuts out at t_max).

Output power from my array (say 3Kw nom max) may only be say 1k0 most of the good weather/season, so I need a low power immersion eg 500W/1Kw max. My main heating is by gas CH but I currently have a 3kW immersion fitted for occasional use. If I ccould get a 1kw + 2 kW dual immersion I would run the 1kW from the PV and the 2kW only , as at present, for a boost.

In the meantime I shall check out your link.

Thanks,
Steve.

Sorry, chaps, both wrong.
I am the sales office manager of a national distributor. We do not sell direct to you tool swingers.

Average mark-up for stock items is 25%. That's 20% profit margin on invoice price. Then there's settlement to come off that, as much as 5% in some cases if the merchant buys through a buying society.
We deliver across 80% of the UK carriage paid with no minimum order value imposed. We have 12 vehicles to run, premises overheads, wages blah blah.
Yeah yeah, I know. Your hearts bleed for me.

Never have I professed to be either a plumber or pipefitter.
The last time I manned a counter was over 20 years ago.

OK, Beerlover, what margin do you add to parts?
As I stated recently we were recently quoted £30 by a GSRI for parts worth around £12, all of which any self respecting GSRI ought to have on his van. 150% mark-up = 60% profit.
