Today our pretty aged whirlpool adp4501/5wh ground to a halt. It is pretty old as dishwashers go and it has served my parents well in their house and us in our house when they gave it us free after they got a built in one. I'd like to repair it as cant really afford a new one, though could live without. It is flashing 6 times which indicates flow meter or inlet valve.

I'm pretty clued up on washers and recently changed a heater on a beko. But I've never opened a dishwasher before. All the videos on YouTube are american which i assume are different as most of theirs are built in.

I have found an inlet valve on espares. Would this sort the problem? Though could it be a loose connection? How would i test the components? Could i use a multimeter?
