Preparing the wall for dashing, do all fixing[screws, washers] for mesh, bead etc need to be stainless steel, or is zinc coated enough?

We always put our mesh on with galvanised nails, sometimes using 3" and 4" ones if the surface was uneven stone work. Have also meshed a building with s/steel mesh and s/steel screws and s/steel washers. and we had to drill and plug the holes with rawl plugs !!!
We used these on the rough brickwork, expensive , but it's just a small area. They hold the mesh 5mm off the wall.[Fix them first then they have an ali nail thru a large plastic washer that hammers in.]
