rendering over pebbledash

Please advise Iam rendering my mothers house but cannot remove the dash as it so hard when it does come off it is damageing interior plasterwork and loosening brick work the interior is completely finished and decorated was told to screw sheets of expanding metal lathe over dash twith screws and stainless steel washers and render over does this sound right please advise

if pebbledash is sound you can pressure wash apply stabaliser then scratchcoat /roughcast over the top.
using the method suggested to you would only apply where the surface to be rendered was unstable....such as sandstone.

EML is, in 99.99% of times, unecessary.

We have used spray on lime based render on pebbledash with no mesh. where required (ie damaged or cracks) used fibreglass mesh.
Not come loose in 12 years.

Not heard of that technique before, but the proof is in the pudding!

the dash we did manage to gat off meant we had to re block gable wall we have used the eml technique on one small wall already it fixed well to the dash and was used over bad brickwork and cracks angle grinded the dash in criss cross lines to give another key it rendered up well on scratch coat i thought eml was supposed to give a good key and stop cracking have rendered over dash before and the render blew thanks for advice not to sure what to do now is the eml a mistake please advise

EML is good but over the top for your job. What is on already will not do it any harm; leave it on and undertake the rest just the way Alastair has recommended.
