Thanks for the further suggestions. Clients still changing their minds - perhaps they shouldn't have spent all their money on yards of fancy granite worktops.

I had a similar problem last week. To solve it, I asked the client to fit an extra end-panel to give the depth needed. This worked out fine. This may not work if the worktop has already been cut to size though.
 
Thanks for your help & ideas - for information the satin patresses linked to are available at just over £30 plus a fivers postage - add £15 for the front plate and it makes an expensive double socket
