Stair repair and paint

The pictured stairs have a less than 90 degree angle on each tread. A guest dropped something down the steps and the sharp edge of each tread splintered (well, maybe 5 or 6).

I used a good glue and masking tape to get the splinter back in line. Now I’d like to either

1. Wrap the sharp edge with non-skid tape

OR 2. Paint the stairs with an epoxy paint for either countertops or garage floors.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
