Hi
My staircase and gallery landing are stained and I want to go lighter as this stain is looking patchy and worn. How on earth do I go lighter? I really don’t want to paint it!

Remove the stain.
Which is likely soaked into the wood so will need a lot of rubbing down and unlikely to work well.
Repainting it or replacing it may be easier than removing a dark stain.

Although I'm sure an expert will be along shortly to advise you of xx miracle product :)

Unless you strip it to base wood, you won't be able to go lighter with a stain.

And it depends if the colour of the wood underneath is lighter. If it's similar to the current stain, a lighter stain will have no effect.

BTW, this won't help but I really like that colour.
