I am about to take on a builder for some work on my house. Does any know of a source of a standard building contract for us both to sign.

draw up a contract between yourselves and sign it, a schedule of works and a completion date but be a little flexible sometimes problems arrise.

Take a look at the federation of master builders website. My father used one of their contracts that you can downlaod.

Probably too late, but JCT contracts are good.
