Standard Plug to Fused Switch

I'm replacing an old panel heater with a new one. Old one is hardwired to a FCU. New heater comes with a standard 3 pin plug. Can I simply cut the plug on the new heater and hardwire onto the existing Fused Socket? , OR Can I simple change the FCU to Standard socket and connect the new heater? Any input would be highly appreciated.

Not in a bathroom, but nearly anywhere else yes you can.
