Hi

Need to change a thermostat on a Heatrae Sadia tank (cl125).

I think its the single stat type (near the bottom).

I presume these can be changed without draining the tank

Am I right or do I need to drain?
Also, are these stats universal or model speciifc?

Cheers

you dont need to drain and the stat is particular to your cylinder, take the old one with you when you go to buy a new one.

thanks for the reply

Just looking at prices online - same make stat showing £147
I was thinking £30!

finding more realistic prices now

one says with safety cut out

I am changing 2 stats, same boilers different houses and both have gone!
have been using oil to heat the water, tried stats and not working

Im thinking there is a safety cut out

where is this and does it rest itself or via a button?

got a link to the 147 one ? the stats are about £20- £30

the cl 125 is an indirect cylinder, why are you using the back up immersion heater ?, the stat has a resettable button you just need to look a bit closer for it.

not mine but as far as I know the owners have been using the oil to heat the water off programmer
I suggested they use the elec immersion to heat over summer, they had a problem with the boiler (not switching off) which is now sorted, next job is the immersions

back up immersion heater?

electric is the most expensive way to heat water so if you have an indirect cylinder the immersion heaters are just for emergencies ie a back up .

perhaps its less trouble long term, they are holiday homes
that said they are not on a timer like the oil is

going to see if there is a reset

now the problem with the boiler is solved maybe they will keep it on the oil
