I've done the parachute jump, for charity, as my brother is laid up in a wheelchair, for him.
And it was such a tedious and boring thing to do. You have to go through army style training, constantly told that if you fail at this point, you lose your deposit, then so conditioned, as to what might go wrong, the automatic reaction is to pull the ripcord to employ the emergency chute, but when jumping out of the plane, all the training embedded..Just autonomous. And all I saw was the sea...not the landing area..and thought..oops! As I went out first.
But I was so conditioned by army style training...It was not an experience, it was boring. just drifting down, no noise. Until the ground approaches quickly, where you toggle. I landed on my arse, quickly, as I aimed for the X.
These people that do a freefall strapped to someone else....why bother? At best it's like being a passenger in a fast car.
So no wonder people take things to an extreme. Jumping out of plane, being on a rollercoaster, boring. Driving to the extreme on a local B road in a 180bhp car, good. But illegal.
