I dont know if you can buy something simular?A while ago i got a mate who welds to make me a couple of brackets to hook onto a cat ladder. It looks simular to a ladder stay.I use it for stacking slates/tiles on.Its alot safer/easier than just trying to put them between the rungs of the cat ladder and certanly alot easier than carrying them down then back up.Ideal for valleys/fitting dry verge etc.Has anyone got any other home made gadjets that could be useful in roofing they could share?I wont copy/patent them "honest" ;) .

they are used in pairs and are spiked into the trusses approx 6ft apart then a scaffold board is placed on top.

@ alastairreid-I may be trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs buy yer never know.Sumin i do when felt roofing. If a pipe comes through the roof i felt round it with strips of felt, then make a square wooden frame to sit round the pipe, fill with quick drying cement, once dried i remove the wooden frame and paint with acrypol(note been doing this for 20yrs but only been adding acrypol the last 5 years)in all that time never had a leak.As im sure you know most flat roofers just felt such things with strips.

you can get a blacksmith to make them up for you! up here you can buy them off the shelf in specialist shops.
