I have tried, in vain, to cover over a straight line crack in the artex in our bathroom ceiling. I imagine this is where the plasterboard sheets have come together when attached to the joist above. I have tried putting some flexible filler in and matching the swirls but it keeps coming back.

Anyone any ideas how to fix the problem for the long term?

Thanks!

The only way to repair the crack properly is to tape over it, and have the ceiling plastered/skimmed. It's worth putting in some more screws along the crack too, just to make sure there's no movement along the join.
