hi pease help, my boiler fires up cuts out about 40 seconds. i understand this is to protect itself. im convinced the pump is stuck, i put a screw driver to it and i hear it buzzing it gets very hot, no heat in the pipes either side.the pump has an octangular plastic nut and when undone a little water seeps out ..how do i get the pump movingplease ?

undo octangular nut, pull toward you (away from pipe) and spin nut. It might be worth isolating power for a while so that pump can cool down.

when i pull the nut out as far as it goes it wont turn, only when i push it in bout half way does it turn. is this correct mick

you can ingage it with the pump and it will turn.
but if your has overheated etc wait for it to cool and you may feel it.
if not a new one

sounds like its nakkered, it should turn fairly easily when pulled out. You could try dismantling the pump and cleaning it. this will mean turning off the valves either side and also turning off the power to the heating system, then removing the four allen screws holding the 2 halves of the pump together, then seperate, clean impellor or replace head
