Im about to put up a stud partition and was just wondering whether it is easier to make up the complete frame and then fix it to the wall or to fix it to the wall as you go along, also what is the recommended length of nails and screws, wall is approx 3m x 2.2m.
Thanks

If you made the frame first, it would not be a tight fit between ceiling and floor, or between two walls.
The recommended method is to fix ceiling plate and floor plate followed by tight vertical uprights, those adjacent to walls can be secured to the walls. Length of nails would depend on size of timber you are intending to use.

Usually the thickness of a timber 1/3 and 2/3 for fixing into the wall.

Example,if you was fixing a 2"x1" flat to the wall you would need 3" lenght for screws or nails.

:D Thanks for all the advice, the frame is now up, and very solid :D Just got to do a few electrics ( light switch ) then put on the plasterboard and then the door linings etc , thanks again
