it has frequently been claimed that they could, and there are quite a few frozen in Siberian permafrost (I think this is a pretty good clue that they were cold-climate animals).

For some years, Russians have been saying they will extract cell matter next time they find one, and insert it into an Elephant ovum.

I can only suppose that they have been unable to extract viable material.

when the females of the species get to 10 years old they can change and transform into a male of the species

the transformation takes a couple of months
