Hello,

I am working on a project to install a 7 x 4m piece of artificial turf within a timber frame.

The original garden had many levels as a result of patios being laid upon old patios laid upon ballast (nightmare).

The area is now level and ready for a sub base. My Dad is convinced that I should just re use the ballast removed during levelling although Nam Grass (artificial turf supplier) suggest using MOT1.

Is there a significant difference/benefit of using MOT1?

Cheers in advance

It seems that it depends on the make of the artificial grass. Some can be laid over gravel but some specify MOT1. Personally I would go with the manufacturer's recommendations in case there are any future problems. I know from my limited experience of using MOT1 that it is very good at compacting whereas gravel might slide around a bit.
