Was going to buy a bulk bag of MOT Type 1 for my sub base when doing my patio but I wondered if I could use some hardcore/rubble/bricks etc?

My friend has just knocked down an internal wall and I have a mountain of rubble from when I did mine... can I take a sledge hammer to it and crush it up and use that as a base?

It saves me having to get rid of my rubble and saves me money on buying a bag of MOT.

Thanks in advance.

Of course you can, we're taxed to death, but it's a free country when it comes to re-using your own rubble on your own property

However, you're going to need something to even it out, maybe a sandy mix with the rubble or on top of the rubble, mixed with smaller aggregate ??
