Hi all, I have read other ceiling crack posts but can’t quite find the answer to mine. I live in the ground floor of a converted Victorian building with 3 floors above me. I got home today to find a 1.5m long crack has suddenly appeared in my lounge ceiling from the corner of the chimney breast. It’s less than 1mm wide but it seems surprising how suddenly such a long crack has opened up. Is this something I should just be expecting given the age of the property or should I be getting this investigated? Photos show the crack goes alone the top of the chimney breast then extends across the ceiling from the corner.

How long have you been living there? When was it last decorated?
To me the cracks look like simply the paint cracking. This happens a lot with expansion / contraction and with changes in temperature and moisture. It may be due to vibrations from near-by road traffic etc.
Keep an eye on it. Look for any dark staining, eg water leakage above.
You'll probably find that it does nothing further.
