My house is in the CZ it is an old baroque castle( don t get excited it was valued at 80000 pounds last year ) It has alot of old wood floors and stairs. I have oiled most of it now with sunflower oil . It looks fantastic . I started about three years ago and now do a toop up every year . If it has gone rancid like a lot of people on the net suggest it hasn t here . It does smell a bit oily for a week or so and is a bit slippery until it dries . Surely if it does go rancid then it cannot sustain life ie mold and etc for ever anyway . I could not possibly afford stuff made from vegatable oil in the ironmongers . I have a brick saddle room which I have also oiled and that looksb so much better
