Superimpose

Need some help guys.

I want some decent software that has the capability of superimposing someone onto a video or still picture image.

So for example, if i have a cartoon movie on my computer, i then want to superimpose my son into this cartoon image.

Someone recommended me Adobe Premiere 9, but it's pants.

Anyone got any knowledge in this field?
