Hi there,my question is,i in the process of fitting out a downstairs bathroom which i only have mains cold water and hot water from tank in upstairs bathroom approx 2.5m head,22mm pipe.Would i be better off with a venturi type shower (trevi boost)or would i get away with a thermo mixer. To run a feed from the cold tank would be a nightmare

Venturi is a reasonable solution, but consider just using a pressure reducing device to bring the mains pressure down to match the hot.

Clearly you'd fit this only on the supply to the shower, not the whole house.

The trouble with fitting a pressure reducing device,is that the cold water pipe also feeds the rest of the bathroom/kitchen,would the pressure be a problem if i just fitted a thermastatic mixer without a pressure reducer, given that i have 2.5m head wih 22mm pipe feed to the mixer.

Eh? Are you saying that there's no point at which you'd could a fit a PRD after the tee where the supply goes off to the kitchen?

Usually, but if you need an authoritative answer then you'll need to measure your mains pressure and then ask the shower valve manufacturer.
