Moved to a new house a couple of months ago and i've had to replace the waste to my toilet, in doing so i've lifted a couple of floorboards and i've got a reasonable void under there (approx 900mm)

Now I intend to insulate the floors if i can, but was wondering if i can use it for anything else?

i haven't been down in the void, and i'm not sure if it's this deep under the whole house.

Spiral wine cellar?
Dig out a basement?
Accommodation for short people?

that's what i was wondering, need to find a propper access hatch (or make on) will be lifting the carpet in the hall at the weekend and do some investigating!

assuming the foundations are only 900 down, is a basement worth the effort, i presume i'd end up underpinning

Just feels like a waste of space!

Basement not worth the effort financially, unless you have run out of other options...
