SWA Cable Armouring

you can use the steel Armouring on the cable, but the glands must be made properly and be water tight, why so many questions?

The reason i asked the question was because in my last job we had to run a seperate single core earth with all the SWA Cables, As we where not allowed to use the armouring as an earthing conductor, Even though it had to be earthed, I could not find anything in BS7671 to back this up, So i thought you nice people could throw some light on the subject? Cable sizes varied from 16mm2 to 300mm2 4 core SWA

thats cos with 300mm2 the csa of the amoring would not be large enough....you can find the table in the regs someware...i think

thats odd probrably just being over carefull, is a good idea though if water did get into one of the glands the resistance would go up, puttin an extra 16mm would also give you a very low resistance to earth
