Hi, quick question, what does the 'SWA' in armoured cable mean, please?

Secondly, how is this cable best cut?

Thank you in advance.

I am assuming that the length I buy will not fit exactly the run I am planning on putting in.

Am I missing something?

I see on tlc direct that you can buy it by the metre, but no halfway in that measurement.

What do you plan to do with, and to, it once you've got the length you need?

Where will it be going?

What will it be supplying and supplied from?

Will you be able to gland it properly at each end?

Have you worked out the size that you need allowing for voltage drop, R1+R2 and current carrying capacity for the installation method you'll be using?

How will you test it once installed?

Do you live in England or Wales?

All questions that I hope address in another thread. I was just curious at this point in time to know what SWA meant, and about cutting it.

Will post another thread on the matter in due course.

(What does MYOB mean?)

Why do you want to cut through some armoured cable?

MYOB
It is my business, and the business of this forum.

The questions I asked concern areas of safety (at possibly life/death level) and legality.

Would you please provide a reasoned explanation for telling me that it is not my business to ask about these areas?

Holmslaw, please act like a rational, intelligent and responsible adult and explain why you believe that matters of safety and legality are not the concern of this forum.

Are you allowed to type this type of cable or not?

If not, how can the supplier supply a suitable length?

TIA.
