Hi all,

Im wanting to control my central heating by an app as i have no set routine for when im in the house.
I currently have a Honeywell st9400c programmer and a Drayton RTS1 thermostat. What is the easiest way of switching over to an app controlled system? What systems are best? Would it be easier sticking with Honeywell for the wiring side of things?

Many thanks

Hive/Nest/Wiser et al. No need to stick to Honeywell and often an industry standard backplate will fit onto existing Honeywell industry standard backplate.

Or to elaborate on the above; the ST9400c fits onto a backplate that is almost identical to that which comes with a Hive, or a Wiser system (a Nest would require a little more rewiring) - which means a very simple task of replicating the existing wiring on to the new backplate.
Then the existing thermostat could be bridged out, or simply set to it's maximum temperature.
The ST9400c is a dual channel programmer, you would also want a dual channel Hive, or Wiser.

Thanks for the replies. I take it the Hive and Wiser are on par with each other regarding reliability and function?
Would these be the correct kits for myself?

Both seem popular on this forum, with maybe the Wiser having a slightly better reputation.
Both have the option of future expansion, via compatible smart TRVs etc.

Yes, either of those kits should be correct.
