I'm a newbie to this, so please be patient with me ...

I have installed a Switchmaster 805 and I believe I must have the wiring incorrect as I can't have both heating and water on at the same time, and the unit is constantly making a buzzing noise ....

Please help ..... :(
 
"Installed"? What do you mean? Replaced an old one? Fitted the Switchmaster anew?

Sounds like you've cocked up the wiring. Refer to manufacturer's leaflet.
