Hi there, I plan to rebuild a small ornamental garden wall (5m x 0.4m) next week. I see the weather varies a little from 6degrees (day) to -3degrees (night). Can I do the wall during the day even if the temp at night is minus. Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks!!

If the temperature is 3deg and rising during the day you can build fine. You must cover it well with hessian or similar to keep the frost off it overnight.

Also as important is to keep your sand covered, you should not build with frozen sand.

You can use a little frostproofer if you like but if your mixing by hand or doing small gauges dont bother as getting the dose wrong can give you a very weak mortar.

If your not in a mad rush waiting til warmer weather is the best bet.
