Just a general question lads,........Am I right in assuming, that the closer the return temp is to the flow, the better?

As Im writing now, the boiler has been on a few hours, the H.W. is up to temp, rads all ok,...boiler temp on the display is 55c and I have a clip on gauge on the return pipe 3" before entering the boiler reading 47c.
boiler..glow worm 24hxi.

Thanks.
