Hello,

I've been away for a couple of weeks and when I got home my shower wasn't working properly, only half the heat. Then I noticed that my hairdryer power seemed reduced and the extractor fan in the kitchen and the microwave are all sluggish. The microwave literally sounds like it's whirring into life when it's switched on. Other things seem fine, lights, fan heater, fridge. Does anyone have any ideas about what could've gone wrong. It's been like this for five days so it's not just a blip in the supply.

My knowledge of electrics is not good so feel free to speak to me like I'm a five year old.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Hi, i would be concerned that you had a loose connection which is when a heavy load is applied is causing it to ark, (spark) which causes heat, and if not fixed a fire.

I would advise you to call an electrician to check the connections at you fuse box.

Regards,

DS

Measure the voltage. Should be around 240V though is allowed to go down to 216V.
