I have a Bristan recessed shower with a Sirrus wax thermostat. Is there a way to test the thermostat e.g. put it in a bowl of hot water? The reason I ask is because the shower is only luke warm. I have followed Bristan's instructions for servicing the shower unit and although there is hot water getting to the unit no amount of adjustment increases the temperature.

I have noticed that the end of the wax thermostat looks like its been crimped wheras photos of new units appear symetrically round in profile. Is the distortion in my wax thermostat an indication the unit needs replacing or is it normal for this to happen over time without compromising the temperature?

Thanks for any advice.
