Do any of you use the microphone speaking to your phone? As opposed to typing question mark mark

I find that speaking into my microphone works better than trying to type into it.
When typing the letters never seem to come through the mic.

Care to expand on what the heck your on about?

I do, a bit of history. One of the mikes (I'm told there are 2) on my phone, Galaxy A12 stopped working. I could hear incoming calls but they couldn't hear me, but if I shouted loud into Google it sometimes worked. Got it repaired by a local guy, £35 but cheaper than a new phone.
Also when I did free WhatsApp phone or video calls, from the phone or desktop, the other end heard an irritfating echo, so stopped using it. But since getting the phone fixed that problem seems to have gone away.
